City Hall

Boston MA
Built in the French Second Empire style, Boston's Old City Hall is a rarity because it represents a very early, short‑lived moment in American architectural history, and most buildings from that era simply didn’t survive. This location had housed city government since the 1600s, giving it symbolic weight, which in part helped protect the structure from demolition pressures after city council moved out in the 1960s. Thankfully, the building is a great early example of a successfully executed adaptive re-use project in a central business district, and her beauty can still be appreciated to this day.
