Opera House

Boston MA
Originally built as a movie palace & vaudeville stage, this beautiful theatre remained a leading Boston movie showcase throughout the 1950s. After a variety of owners & modifications, the theatre came into the hands of the Opera Company of Boston in 1980, but finances didn't quite work out. The venue went dark thereafter for a period of time during the 90s and early 2000's before an extensive renovation took place. Since relaunch, the historic theater has kept fairly busy and active with long runs of touring Broadway musicals, ballet, and pop concerts, but the Opera House name is a current-day misnomer, as an opera has yet to take place in the renovated venue.
