Elstonia - Chicago IL
Constructed in 1881 to house laborers working in the surrounding industrial corridor, "The Hideout" was originally a nickname for the building's function as a discrete refuge for hustlers, undocumented workers, and bootleggers during prohibition era Chicago. Tucked away on a side street in between warehouses, the bar retains that speakeasy vibe to this day. More recently, ownership has paired these working class roots with an artist-centric stage and atmosphere that has attracted a phenomenal resume of rising indie acts despite the venue's limited 100 person capacity.
